Coronavirus Relief and Benefits

Being unemployed is one of the most discouraging experiences. However, the good news is that during these unprecedented times, the federal and state governments have taken steps to provide additional unemployment relief. Here are some resources you can use if you happen to be without work:

1. CARES Act provides additional unemployment benefits. Specifically, the CARES Act provides an additional $600 per week in unemployment benefits. It also adds an additional 13 weeks of benefits through the end of the year. The $600 weekly payments are retroactive to April 5, 2020. In order to qualify you must be physically able to work, and you must be unemployed through no fault of your own.

2. Applying for unemployment benefits. Each state has its own rules to apply for benefits. Here is a list of state offices to contact.

3. For active duty military and reserves. There are several different organizations providing financial assistance including Air Force Aid Society, Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, and Operation Homefront.
