May 2020 – Career and Budget Spring Cleaning

I hope you had a good week. May weather is here, so make sure you go outside, get some fresh air, and exercise.

While we continue to protect ourselves and loved ones from COVID-19, it’s a good time to do a financial self-evaluation. As I’ve mentioned before, if you already have a job, keep it. Do your best at work and make yourself valuable within your organization. This is the time where you want to retain your job, you don’t want to be looking for another one.

If you are unemployed, this is also a good time to do a career self-assessment. A great resource for determining your next career move is Mindset by Carol Dweck. You can also get a summary of Mindset for free on Amazon, if you’re a part of the Kindle Unlimited Program.

Your mindset is a powerful tool. It’s far more powerful than your intelligence, wealth, natural skills, or social network. A growth mindset will put you on a path of success, even if you lack other resources.

Coupled with a growth mindset, having tools to reach your financial goals is also important. There is free financial counseling available for those unable to afford it. Take action now, and use this time to get your finances in good condition.

Thriving in a recession can be difficult. However, if you’re armed with the right knowledge, you can take advantage of opportunities when most people only see danger. In times like these, you can make great progress in your career, savings plan, and business relationships. I can help you directly when you join my membership program.

I also encourage you to pick up copies of my books The Money Mission, Tax Saving Strategies, and the Blended Retirement System. Since we are in tax season now, these will give you great ideas on how to save money using the tax law to your advantage.

Have a great weekend, stay safe, and I’ll talk to you again very soon!
